The project, funded jointly by Wakefield MDC and Hanover Housing Association provides 45 Extra Care apartments. The varied client group allows up to 4 apartments to be set aside in pepper-pot format for shared ownership, with the remainder rented to local older people or those with a local connection.
A high quality contemporary design sensitive to its surroundings, providing dedicated housing and support to elderly and frail residents has been achieved. The development also provides low carbon energy sources such as solar and geothermal along with recycled grey water and sustainable drainage satisfying the criteria of Eco- Homes “very good” standard and bespoke BREEAM assessments for Extra Care housing.
