The Brewster Bye conservation team has had many years of experience in working with listed buildings, historic buildings and buildings within rural areas, conservation areas and historic environments. Often this work is carried out in the context of a change of use. The examples illustrated encompass a range of building types with a wide spectrum of previous uses – a former mental hospital, woolen mills, city centre commercial buildings and a church. All of these have been successfully converted by the practice to residential and other uses. In each case the best of the building’s architectural heritage has been incorporated to enhance the completed development.
