Wesley Road is a development of 28 affordable homes provided by 54 North Homes Ltd. The scheme comprises 20No. 2 bed, 3 person, 6No. 3 bed, 5 person houses and 2No 1 bed, 2 person flats. All houses meet AD M4(2) standards for accessible and adaptable dwellings, whilst one of the flats is designed to meet AD M4(3) wheelchair accessible standards. The scheme is built on brownfield land opposite St Bartholomew’s Church, Armley. A large number of retained existing trees help create a harmonious development that creates positive green space in an accessible and pedestrian friendly development.

The development proves that a brownfield site can yield a significant and accessible level of affordable housing for social rent and shared ownership tenures. This has been possible with funding from Leeds City Council’s brownfield housing fund.

The development – Pilkington Grove – is named after Scout Leader Ron Pilkington MBE who ran the local Scouting group for over half a century. Honouring Mr Pilkington in this way demonstrates a commitment to the neighbourhood and fostering lasting relationships with adjacent organisations and their people.
