Greenwich Gardens, comprises 98 one and two bedroom apartments. This scheme provides housing for older people as well as being a facility for the wider community with a restaurant, lounge, bistro cafe, library, fitness centre and other communal facilities.
The plan is based on a “hub and spoke” approach, centred around two atrium spaces. This enables smaller neighbourhoods of flats to be created within the building as well as destinations to help navigation. The form of the building allows the bulk of the accommodation to be kept away from the A38 and the adjacent houses giving a domestic scale along Hanwell Way and a more civic feel to the central spine.
This language is carried through into the elevational treatment with the contemporary use of brick and domestic forms.
