Shannon Street Mills is a new build residential scheme build on a recently demolished industrial site. It’s located to the east of Quarry house in the outer area of the city centre.

The scheme looks to achieve 214 apartments in total, which includes a mix of 1 bed, 2 bed and 3 bed units over a series of 20 stories. These apartments are accessed by 2 vertical cores, separated evenly across the building.

At the base, an assortment of amenity, as well as communal garden spaces are provided, allowing users of the building the opportunity to relax and unwind. Whether in the gym, cinema or in the garden.

The building’s massing is a driven by a detailed analysis of the surrounding buildings and context, both currently constructed and planning approved schemes. The articulation of the building has been influenced following an extensive wind study where the architects worked closely with specialists to create a considered solution which is aesthetically pleasing. Material choice and detailing are products of both precedent studies, and a historic review of the area, with particular homage to the historic mill buildings, reflected in the ‘traditional’ block.
