St Cecilia is a 100% affordable residential scheme on a former carpark site neighbouring Northern Ballet, Quarry House and the new SOYO scheme in the East of Leeds City Centre.
The tight site has required a collaborative approach between client, architect and contractor to enable a viable, buildable, attractive solution.
Accommodation is set out around a central core with 78 apartments split over 11 storeys. Units are arranged wherever possible with lounge/kitchen /dining areas located to corners allowing for dual aspect spaces.
The scheme is located at a transition point between established early 21st century buildings, and large scale newly completed master planning schemes whilst in the slightly wider context sitting alongside a much old traditional building precedent. The scheme looks to utilise established grid principles with a delicate overlay of texture, pattern and shadow to create a subtle intervention on the site.
